WHY LIGHT DMV
Herndon's Premier Permanent LED Lighting Company
Permanent Christmas lights in Herndon, VA are a year-round LED roofline installed once and run from your phone — warm white every night, holiday color when you want it. Light DMV serves Herndon homeowners, from Old Town along Elden Street to the colonials in Crestbrook and Chandon and the townhomes at Worldgate, with the permanent LED lights Herndon families keep up past January. The channel is color-matched to the trim, so it stays quiet by day on historic eaves and on newer elevations near the Dulles Toll Road alike.
We've illuminated 800+ homes and businesses across the DMV, earned 165 five-star reviews, and hold a 5.0-star reputation by showing up, communicating clearly, and standing behind the work with a lifetime workmanship warranty. Every Herndon project uses commercial-grade RGBW LEDs and is fully insured with liability and a $2M umbrella. Most installs in Herndon run $2,400–$7,500 depending on roofline length and stories. Founded in 2021, we work from 316 Dominion Road NE, Suite 318, Vienna, VA 22180 and serve Herndon from that shop.

Permanent lighting
What are permanent Christmas lights?
Permanent Christmas lights — also called permanent holiday lights or year-round outdoor lighting — are a one-time, app-controlled LED system installed along your roofline and tucked into a low-profile channel. By day it is nearly invisible; by night it is warm white, full-color holiday scenes, July 4, or game-day colors, all from your phone. No annual install, no takedown, no boxes in the garage. Light DMV serves Herndon with that system, from Old Town and the Town Green to Folly Lick, Dulles Park, and the townhomes at Worldgate. Reston is the next community west, and the same Vienna crew covers that side of the Toll Road.

How it works
Individually addressable RGBW — hidden by day
The channel
A slim channel tucks under the eave — screwed into the soffit, or bonded to a metal gutter with a durable 3M double-sided metal tape — color-matched to the trim. On Old Town Herndon and the painted colonials in Folly Lick that match matters: original wood, dark fascia, and newer vinyl all want the channel to disappear by day, with no roof penetration.
The control
Each LED is individually addressable RGBW: any color, any pattern, scheduled from the app. Runs on standard 110V exterior power, with power injection on longer Crestbrook and Franklin Farm rooflines so brightness holds end to end.
App & scenes
Every holiday, game day, and everyday warm white
Control colors, run presets for Christmas, Halloween, July 4, birthdays, and team colors, schedule sunset-to-midnight, dim, and sync to music — all from iOS or Android, plus Alexa and Google Home. Set it once and your Herndon home handles the calendar on its own. Warm white most nights, full color when Elden Street or a Worldgate block is hosting.
DIY vs. professional
Govee and DIY kits vs. a professional permanent system
Govee permanent outdoor lights and other peel-and-stick kits are a different category from a professionally installed architectural system. They are fine for a short run you put up yourself. Adhesive and clips commonly sag, space unevenly, and let go in DMV freeze-thaw — and on an Old Town Herndon eave or a long Crestbrook perimeter they run out of length and even brightness. A Light DMV system uses a color-matched channel fastened to the trim, commercial-grade color-stable LEDs, a professional install, and a lifetime workmanship warranty.
Our platform
Built on a commercial-grade platform
Light DMV installs a commercial-grade RGBW platform in Herndon — weatherproof hardware, color-stable addressable chips, a clean iOS and Android app, and professional support. Every system is color-matched to the trim and backed by our 5-year LED warranty, lifetime workmanship warranty, and full insurance. The crew that serves Herndon works from 316 Dominion Road NE, Suite 318, Vienna, VA 22180.

Why Herndon chooses Light DMV
Old Town Herndon along Elden Street and the colonials out in Crestbrook and Chandon are different houses, and the Worldgate townhomes are different again. We color-match the channel so it disappears by day, then leave warm white on for the rest of the year. The crew serves Herndon from Vienna, close enough to walk an HOA spec sheet before anything goes on the fascia.
